PLG Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Nicole Pagowsky, Kristen Curé, Brenda Taylor, Steven Phalen, Patricia Escarcega, Jacy Bell
1. Announcements
a. PLG is still waiting for GPSC grant funding to transfer to the SIRLS account.
b. Brenda Taylor won the raffle for both UA and parent PLG memberships.
2. Project Updates
a. Lost Film Fest – Jacy
i. Marshall Foundation Grant submitted; decided on 13 October
ii. Hanson Film Institute will secure Modern Languages 350 and may be willing to cover some costs if Marshall Foundation doesn’t fully fund the request.
iii. As soon as room confirmed, all promotions will continue.
b. Copyright Workshop – Nicole and Steven
i. Dan Lee, copyright librarian, maybe interested in helping develop the workshop. Steven will also talk to Michael Brewer about possibly helping with it.
ii. PLG will possibly work with the UA Library to get ALA copyright sliders at a discount.
iii. Steven will look into possible Wednesdays to have the workshop.
c. Yoga Fundraiser – Nicole for Rebecca Bilquez
i. Rebecca gave Nov 15th and 16th as options for the event. The group decided to hold the event on Sunday, 16 November.
ii. Nicole will email Rebecca about what time the event will be. 10am?
d. Social Event for the semester
i. Possible ideas: community bike ride; skillshare/swap and potluck; Art Walk at galleries
ii. To sign up as project manager (PM) or add more ideas, go to the
Project Management wiki page.
e. PMs and support staff are needed for several other possible projects. Go to the
Project Management wiki page to sign up for any events or add more ideas for future events.
3. Officer Updates
a. Kristen – Webmaster
1. Article ideas so far: PLG event write ups; point/counterpoint on progressivism vs. neutrality
2. Content deadline: 1st Friday/Saturday of November
1. 6 pages: Homepage – mission, introductory information, possibly import blog; Calendar – event flyers; Membership – how to join, parent site link, wiki link; Media – PowerPoint presentations, podcasts, flyers for past events; Contact Information; Links
2. Nicole suggested PLG get a flicker account and import photos to the website.
4. Other Business
a. Rebecca Blakiston emailed Nicole about PLG possibly participating in Banned Books Week for 2009.
