PLG Meeting

1.       Announcements

a. Nicole will send an email to the listserv with individual thank yous to everyone who contributed to PLG this past semester.

b. Nicole thanked Rachel, who is graduating this winter, for all of her help from the inception of to the current status of PLG.

2.    Officer Updates/Wrap Ups

       a. Rachel – VP/Treasurer

                   i. There is currently $200 in the PLG bank account.

       ii. GPSC grant funding is en route from SIRLS to the PLG. The Lost Film Fest booking fee will be paid once funding is in bank account.

 b. Kristen – Webmaster

            i. Due date for Newsletter content is December 13^th.

            ii. Newsletter will be edited and finished during winter break and published and printed in the new year in time to distribute at the IRLS 504 dinner on 5 January 2009.

 c. Jacy – Secretary

           i. Lost Film Fest: all payments to Evil Twin Booking are being processed; the GPSC report concerning how the event went and use of awarded funds was submitted Wednesday morning, Dec 3^rd.

            ii. Jamba Juice Fundraiser: funds raised from Aug 4^th is still being investigated and waiting on check.  Jacy will coordinate with the new Fundraising Coordinator to make sure PLG receives the check.

4.     Spring Planning

        a. Meetings: There are no classes on Wednesdays – unanimous vote to hold meetings next semester on Wednesdays from 5:15 – 6:00pm every other week beginning 14 January 2009. Nicole will email the listserv meeting times for the spring.

        b. Projects

               i. Intellectual Property Workshop

               ii. Workshop on creating accessible electronic documents (PDFs)

   iii. Google Books Project Discussion w/Peter Botticelli (end of January/beginning of February)– Patricia volunteered to be project manager with Nicole, Rebecca and Kristen as support staff.

   iv. Graduate Symposium – Nicole will post the topic of PLG doing something for the symposium on the collaboration wiki page.

   v. Building Community Ties – the following people volunteered as project managers to act as liaisons for targeted community groups:

5.     Open Floor

        a. Regarding the post for jobs at Bitch, Kristen has old copies of the magazine if anyone is interested in looking at them – kkcure@email.arizona.edu

        b. Brenda announced that LSO will be having a games night on Saturday, Dec 13^th – all are welcome.  If anyone has an idea for a venue on or near campus please contact her – bst11@email.arizona.edu
