I. Introductions

Members in attendance:

  1. Danielle
  2. Kristen
  3. Diana
  4. Olivia
  5. Emily

II. Officer Updates

   Diana—

Reports a total balance of $533.17.  $36.24 was subtracted in order to pay for the fliers for Banned Book Week.  Full Funding is expected from the Graduate and Professional Student Council to reimburse us for $250, the full amount requested, to cover the license fee for Quills, screened during Monday's Film Fest.

Kristen—

Mentioned that we may want to start using the Orgsync account sponsored by ASUA in place of or along with the Wiki page, however this could limit community involvement, as access is limited to UA account holders.

Dan Lee of the Main Library asked Kristen to send email to the PLG listserv announcing the Open Access Week events, Oct 19th-23rd, which include two discussions on Oct 20th and Oct 23rd.

Rachel Castro was officially nominated as Fundraising Coordinator.

Emily—

Looked into the other PLG chapters and discussed some strengths and weaknesses of their websites and community/ academic participation.  She will put up a page on the Wiki with some links to this information.

III. Project Manager Updates:

Olivia-- Banned Book Week

Banned Book Week Recap: Both the Movie Screening and Discussion Panel/ Read Out were successful, but with modest attendance. Thank you notes will be signed by members and sent to panelists. It was voted on and passed to buy, for each panelist, a $10 gift certificate to a local bookstore, as a way to give thanks, but also, to encourage networking between the PLG and local businesses.

In order to encourage attendance at next year’s Banned Book Week we will plan on marketing the event much earlier than this year.  A page including ideas for possible improvements, as well as a checklist, for next year’s Banned Book Week will be put on the Wiki.

Kristen-- Dry River Collective

Oct. 10 and 11th are painting/cleaning event days at the Dry River Collective and its library, at 10:00 am.  Volunteers are encouraged.

Kristen, for Angelina--Accessibility Workshop

The Accessibility Workshop will be held on Oct. 14th at 5:30 in the Highland Commons Building.  Fliers were made and will be passed out by members in SIRLS classes in the coming week.

Kristen, for Yamila--Skill Share

Due to scheduling conflicts with the two known presenters and some members, the date for the accessibility workshop may be moved to Nov. 3rd.  Additional presenters are encouraged, with between 4 and 8 as a goal.

IV. Open Floor/Closing

 No announcements.
